Bob Arum: Pacquiao plans to go on leave from PH Senate to fight again

So is boxer-turned-senator Manny Pacquiao out of retirement?

“Top Rank CEO Bob Arum is claiming that Pacquiao is set to be back in the boxing ring later this year,” reports Ryan Burton on BoxingScene.com.

Arum claimed that he had been in talks to have boxer Adrien Broner as Pacman’s next opponent. Unfortunately, it didn’t work out.

The report noted that Arum had previously told Burton that “Pacquiao wanted to return but first had to see if his duties as a senator would allow him enough time to train properly for a fight.”

Now, Arum says they’re thinking of booking the upcoming Pacquiao fight on Oct 15 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.

Arum stated:”(Pacquiao) is going to fight. I don’t know what the date is. He is working with the (Senate President) for an appropriate date where he can leave the Philippines for two or three weeks to prepare for the fight.”

He added, “In any event he is going to have to do most of his preparation in the Philippines — you know after he sits in the senate — so it is going to be an interesting thing but definitely he is looking to come back and the question is how can we arrange it.”
