Nature has a wonderful way of surprising us, yes?
So, we’re ready to believe that a fisherman from Misamis Occidental actually caught a blue marlin with intricate “tattoos” on its body. The photos of the unusual catch went viral on social media, with thousands of likes and shares.
But guess what… there’s actually a pretty logical explanation to all those markings on the fish.

Zosimo Tano, the 41-year-old fisherman who caught the “tattooed” blue marlin clarified what happened after his fellow fishermen told him that photos of his unusual catch has gone viral.
As it turns out, the markings just came from the print on his shirt, which he used to cover the 24-kilogram blue marlin.
“It has no tattoo I never thought that the print of what I used to cover would embed on the fish skin,” Tano told ABS-CBN News.
Tano even showed his shirt. Yup, the markings are the same.

The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) said that there was a “chemical reaction” between the fish’s skin and the print.
Tano sold the blue marlin for PHP180 per kilo.
