Blind Filipina singer makes it to the finals of talent show in France

Visual impairment be damned! Nothing can stop an awesome person from being awesome.

Filipina singer Alienette Coldfire, or Katchry Jewel Golbin in real life, on Tue made it to the finals of “France a un Incroyable Talent” (France has Incredible Talent).

The visually-impaired 25-year-old moved the judges of the show — illusionist Eric Antoine, singer Helene Segara, choreographer kamel Ouali and producer Gilbert Rozon — with her version of Michel Legrand’s Le Moulins de mon Coeur (The Windmills of your Mind).

Segara said that Aliennette’s voice moved her to tears. She also promised Alienette the chance to sing with Legrand

Hailing from Iloilo, the singer studied the French language for three years after finding inspiration from “La Vie En Rose” by Edith Piaf.

Accoring to this report by the Manila Bulletin, she got into the French talent show after someone saw her sing a French song on YouTube. She even got help from Filipino singers Ogie Alcasid, and Regine Velasquez and celebrity Solenn Heusaff in securing her French visa.

Ogie is a big fan of Alienette. They first met in 2008 when Alienette joined GMA-7’s “Pinoy Idol”. She failed to make it to the finals, but perhaps that failure helped her in her journey — look at where she is now!

Alienette is asking the Filipino community for support by voting for her in the grand finals on Dec 13.

The show is aired at France M6 Channel.
