Bishops praying for papal visit in 2016

The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) is urging Catholics to pray for a papal visit in 2016.

CBCP president Archbishop Jose Palma expressed optimism about the possibility of a papal visit after receiving a request from the Vatican to hold the International Eucharistic Congress at an earlier date. The Congress, which will happen in Cebu City, has been moved from May 23 to 29, 2016, but has been reset to January 25 to 31.

According to Interaksyon.com, should the papal visit happen, Pope Francis will be the third pope to visit the Philippines. The first two were Pope Paul VI in 1970 and Pope John Paul II, who visited in 1981 and 1995.
