Manila Auxiliary Bishop Broderick Pabillo is unimpressed with Metro Manila Development Authority Chairman Francis Tolentino’s move to personally direct traffic in Quezon City and Mandaluyong amid the worsening traffic situation in Metro Manila.
In an interview with Radio Veritas, Pabillo said Tolentino needs to come up with a sustainable solution to the traffic mess instead of moves that are just for show.
“Ano ba talaga ang kanyang long–term solution sa traffic sa Kamaynilaan (What is his long-term solution to Metro Manila’s traffic problem)?” asked the bishop.
Pabillo then added: “Yung pagta–trapik–trapik, pakitang tao lang ‘yan. Hindi naman masu–sustain yan. (His stint as a traffic enforcer is all for show. He can’t sustain that).”
Pabillo, who is chairman of the CBCP permanent committee on public affairs, said the MMDA needs to show to the public concrete action plans to solve the traffic in Metro Manila.
Tolentino, who has come under fire over the traffic situation in Metro Manila, was seen personally directing traffic in Quezon City and Mandaluyong City this week.
He earlier rejected calls for his resignation, saying the public should help solve the traffic mess.
Some netizens were unimpressed with Tolentino’s move. Others also called out the MMDA chief for failing to wear a helmet while riding a motorcycle along EDSA.
