Bishop gives advice for prom night

It’s prom season — and the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) wants to make sure that all its participants remain “innocent.”

“When asked to weigh in on the prom tradition, Nueva Ecija Bishop Roberto Mallari — vice chair of the CBCP Commission on Youth — emphasized that the prom is an occasion to build a healthy relationship with the opposite sex and an opportunity to earn the trust of their parents,” reports Jocelyn R. Uy in Philippine Daily Inquirer.

Mallari was quoted as saying, “My reminder is that this occasion is a chance to establish a relationship with the opposite sex. It is an initial meeting and encounter with the opposite sex so I hope these students would not see it as an occasion to give in to lustful thoughts.”

Well, if only David Pomeranz songs are played all night, the kids should only think about flowers, rainbows, unicorns, and candy.
