Birthday party turns bloody: 1 dead, 6 hurt in Navotas City shooting

The attack was most likely planned.

“Four men who were ‘riding-in-tandem’ on two motorcycles fired shots at guests of a birthday party in Barangay North Bay Boulevard South in Navotas at around 10 pm on Wednesday, Nov 6,” reports Rey Galupo in The Philippine Star.

Police officers identified the wounded as Francisco Nebato, 36; James Dagatona, 28; Johnny Capulan, 36; Samuel Polo, 32; Cecilia Lagrosa; and Gino Tejuco, 18. Reniel Ramirez, who was rushed to the Tondo General Hospital, was declared dead on arrival.

Initial investigation showed that the gunmen used an M-16 rifle and a .45 caliber pistol.

According to the report, some residents believe the attack could be related to the October 28 barangay elections. A source claimed that Ramirez had been a supporter of a certain candidate. The report didn’t contain the name of the candidate.

Police are still trying to find out the motive for the attack.
