“Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) Makati Revenue regional director Jonas Amora said Dillingers 1903—with the corporate name Timeless Bar and Restaurant Concepts—has been padlocked by the agency and will remain closed until its owners settle its PHP15 million deficiency income and value-added taxes,” reports Jun Ramirez in Manila Bulletin.
Dillingers 1903 is located at Greenbelt 3 Mall and is “allegedly operated by children of powerful politicians Ilocos Norte Rep. Rudy Farinas and former Ilocos Sur Governor Chavit Singson.”
Dillingers 1903 is said to be “the first establishment closed by the BIR in Greenbelt area.” *The BIR said that their audit showed that Dillingers 1903 “under-declared its sales by more than 213% last year.”
The report explained that “a business enterprise under the Tax Code will be closed if it reports only 30 percent or more its total sales.”
According to BIR Makati East Revenue District Officer Isabel Paulino, the management of Dillingers 1903 “ignored several notices to rectify the errors and pay the deficiency taxes.”
Paulino had who placed the spot under surveillance for several weeks to monitor daily sales.
The report revealed that “the 30 employees of the bar including waiters expressed anxiety for losing their jobs” because “the management paid them well and they received extra emolument of PHP1,000 weekly from tips of customers.”
