BIR chief Kim Henares cracks the whip on tiangge operators

With bazaars and tiangges sprouting up everywhere in time for the holidays, Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) Commissioner Kim Henares is once again going to be busy as well.

“Henares has instructed tiangge or specialized store operators from all over the country to register their business and issue invoices to their customers,” reports Jun Ramirez in Tempo.

The report noted: “Henares told revenue regional directors and revenue district officers (RDOs) nationwide during a closed-door conference that they will be held responsible for tolerating the presence of colorum tiangge business in their jurisdictions.”

Henares added that she “will conduct surprise visits to tiangge centers in Metro Manila and elsewhere to verify compliance.”
