BIR boss Kim Henares not keen on doing lifestyle check on PNP Chief Alan Purisima

She says it’s better if the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) does it. But you have to read on to attempt to digest her explanation.

“In a chance interview at Congress on Tuesday, October 7, Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) Commissioner Kim Henares revealed that she’s not keen on conducting an independent lifestyle check on embattled Philippine National Police (PNP) Director General Alan Purisima,” reports Ellson Quismoro in Tempo.

Henares explained in Filipino, “It’s better if the DILG does it. So there will be just one investigation. It won’t be redundant.”

The report noted: “The PNP is supervised administratively by Napolcom, which is an attached agency of the DILG under Secretary Mar Roxas. Roxas also sits as Napolcom chairman.”

The report also added: “Henares clarified to reporters that the DILG-led lifestyle check that Purisima would be subjected to has nothing to do with the current plunder-related controversies hounding him, but a consequence of the EDSA ‘hulidap’ last month that was perpetrated by PNP members.”

OK, now, we’re officially confused.
