Binay brings own ‘paksiw na isda’ to Ayala Stock Exchange

Depending on how you feel about the guy, this story is either charming or annoying.

“Earlier this week, during his visit to the Ayala stock exchange, Vice President Jejomar reportedlly declined the spread of Western buffet prepared for him by the coat-and-tie brigade, preferring instead his baon of homemade paksiw na isda and Spam,” reports Victor C. Agustin in his Cocktales column on InterAksyon.com.

The report noted: “An amused eyewitness later saw a Binay aide microwave and then hand-carry the two steaming platefuls of the VP special, instantly overpowering the glass-walled boardroom with vinegary vapor and sizzling meatloaf aroma.”

However, the report related that Binay’s baon went untouched, as he got “sidetracked working the crowd, posing for selfies with brokers who forgot that trading was already underway.”

Binay had been invited to ring the trading bell to formally inaugurate the start of the online trading facility of Regina Capital, the brokerage controlled by husband-and-wife Victor and Marita Limlingan.

The report provided a background on Binay’s connection to the Limlingans: “The Limlingans down to the sons are deeply embedded with the Binay camp, with Victor’s elder brother, Gerardo, acting as campaign manager and troubleshooter (for years now).”
