Bill seeks to outlaw necrophilia

A bill has been filed at the House of Representatives to make necrophilia, or sex with a corpse, a crime.

The bill, filed by Pampanga Representative Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and her son Camarines Sur Rep. Diosdado Macapagal Arroyo, seeks prison sentences of from 6 years to 20 years and a fine of from P100,000 to P500,000 for having sex with a corpse.

Necrophilia done by more than two people or done by a person who has custody of the corpse carries a higher penalty of from 12 years to 20 years in prison.

Arroyo noted desecration of the dead does not yet have criminal penalties, just liability for damages. He said “sexual violation of, or sexual intercourse with, a female corpse is presently beyond the pale of our criminal justice system.”
