Biggest cemetery in Metro Manila now has tomb database

Who says GPS is just for the living?

One of the largest cemeteries in Metro Manila is boasting a new service for its annual visitors during the upcoming All Souls’ Day.

Tombs can now be easily located with the help of a software at the Manila North Cemetery, reports TV Patrol.

The report said the administration of the Manila North Cemetery managed to compile the locations of tombs placed there from the year 2000 to this year. Those tombs older than the 00’s can still be searched through the office’s manual database.

The cemetery administration will hand out stubs that people can fill up so that cemetery staff can search the tomb using their computer. One of the oldest and biggest cemeteries in Metro Manila at 54 hectares, the Manila North Cemetery is the resting place of personalities from government (such as President Ramon Magsaysay, above), show business and sports.

Aside from the tomb database, the cemetery administration recently installed closed circuit television cameras to easily monitor the sprawling complex. We don’t know what else cemetery administrators would be on a lookout once cemetery season is over.
