He’s seeking justice for his furry best friend.

“Silvestre Ravago, 65, a farmer from Bicol, used what little money he had to spare to ride the bus from Bicol to Manila to seek justice for his family’s beloved dog, Ella, who was hacked to death by an intruder,” reports Paolo Romero in The Philippine Star.

Ella was seven years old.

Last Nov 6, a drunk man had reportedly entered the Ravagos’ yard. The man then hacked Ella with a bolo, probably because she was barking at him.

The report indicted that “Ravago was out of the house during the incident and his son tried to block the intruder but the suspect brandished his machete at him.” Barangay watchmen later tried to save Ella but she died from her injuries.

The report noted: “Ravago said his goal was to seek help from the Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) in Quezon City after the police in his hometown of Oas, Albay turned him away upon finding out the case involved a dog.”

According to the report, “the local police referred him to PAWS, saying animals were not under their jurisdiction.”

Ravago said he took action despite the challenge because he considered Ella as a family member.
