Bible-quoting Manny Pacquiao wants criminals to die for their sins

Newly-elected Philippine senator Manny Pacquiao has been working non-stop after his one-on-one meeting with President Duterte on Mon, Aug 1.

On Tue, the Bible-quoting boxer filed three House Bills that seek the re-imposition of death penalty — HB 185, for crimes involving dangerous drugs; HB 186, for kidnapping; and HB 187, for aggravated rape.

This was a personal request by the president, it seems.

According to GMA News Online, “President Rodrigo Duterte has asked his partymate Senator Manny Pacquiao to push for the passage of the bill reimposing the death penalty to boost the administration’s campaign against illegal drugs.”

In any case, Pacquiao has claimed that the imposition of capital punishment does not go against the teachings of his religion. In fact, he says, it is actually based on the Bible.

“In the eyes of God, that is not wrong,” he told Philippine Star in May, and asked critics to read the Book of Romans.
