BGC condo owners urged to check own gas systems

Owners of condominium units at Bonifacio Global City in Taguig with piped-in liquified petroleum gas should inspect their gas systems, the Bureau of Fire Protection said.

The BFP will distribute a checklist for unit owners this week to help unit owners and renters assess whether their gas systems are safe. According to BFP officer-in-charge Carlito Romero, one “yes” answer on the checklist is enough to indicate a problem.

Residents should immediately inform their building administrators, he said.

“Safety is a shared responsibility and interest,” Romero said.

The Department of the Interior and Local Government, to which the BFP is attached, initiated consultations with unit owners, building administrators, and the Bonifacio Gas Corp. after a gas explosion at Serendra Two on March 31.

Aside from the self assessments by unit owners, Taguig City will conduct inspections of building and units every three months.
