Be wary of overly bibo, self-appointed parking attendants, especially when they come in pairs.
Top Gear just shared the experience of one of their readers, “Michael”, about a new modus involving “watch-your car” boys.
On Dec 29, Michael and his friends wanted to play pool at Perfect Spot along Tomas Morato Avenue. As he was parking his SUV near the bar, two boys who appeared to be “in charge” of parking approached them.
Michael noticed one of these two self-appointed parking attendants was a little too talkative. He also asked for PHP50 parking fee.
While surprised that the spot now had a fee, Michael and his friends agreed, saying they will pay after they’re done.
When they saw that the bar was jam-packed, Michael and his friends decided to bounce. They went back to their SUV, and the parking guys started their weird behavior.
It seemed they both wanted Michael and his friends to stay in the area. The talkative dude insisted there were still available tables inside, while his sidekick suggested they try a nearby bar.
But Michael would hear none of it. When they boarded the SUV, Michael immediately noticed the “doors opened” warning light was switched on. He told his friends to check their doors, but the warning light wouldn’t switch off.
Then it hit him: it must be the tailgate and the watch-your-car boys must have opened it.
While the talkative ass was pretending to assist him in parking the car, his sidekick was already at it, trying to open the tailgate.
Michael concluded his story by advising readers to “check at least one door if it’s locked after you click the lock button on your key.”
The good guys at Top Gear pushes Michael’s advice further saying, it’s better to check all doors before leaving your parked vehicle.
