Rumor has it that many of the country’s rich and famous are turning to stem cell therapy to stay young. Naturally, this is like a siren call for scammers.
“Chairman Teresita Manzala of the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) recently expressed that the government is wary of the growing number of doctors misrepresenting themselves as experts in stem cell therapy,” reports Mayen Jaymalin in The Philippine Star.
According to the report, Manzala said doctors must avoid adopting an “innovative procedure” mainly on the basis of “commercial promotions and marketing, when the value or benefit of the procedure has not been proven.”
Then again, will this be enough to stop unscrupulous souls from cashing in on the current stem cell craze?
