Best dressed man at the SONA: Ifugao Rep. Teddy Baguilat

President Rodrigo Duterte’s mandate was for everyone to wear simpler outfits during the State of the Nation Address (SONA).

But “simple” doesn’t mean you can’t make a statement.

House Minority Leader Rep. Teddy Baguilat, from the lone district of Ifugao, showcased his ethnic heritage by wearing a wanno or G-string, a traditional head dress, and sash.

“A few days before the SONA, Baguilat said that wearing the traditional costume in one of the most talked about political affairs in the country would emphasize the need to recognize and be proud of the various ethnic groups in the country,” reports Alixandra Caole Vila on Philstar.com.

The report noted: “Baguilat is a native of Kiangan, a fourth class municipality in the province of Ifugao. Kiangan is considered a heritage town because it houses the Kiangan Rice Terraces, which is included in the list of United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) World Heritage Sites.”
