This will get mixed reactions from the public, to say the least.
“Speaker Sonny Belmonte Jr. said the House of Representatives will likely adopt the two resolutions seeking to grant house arrest to former President-turned Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and Senator Juan Ponce Enrile when Congress resumes sessions in May,” reports Charissa Luci in Manila Bulletin.
The report noted: “Belmonte cited the possibility yesterday that the 290-man lower chamber could pass House Resolution (HR) No. 1908 and House Resolution (HR) No. 1959, which strongly urges the Sandiganbayan to place Arroyo and the 91-year old Enrile under house arrest.”
Belmonte explained, “There is a chance for the Arroyo resolution to be passed as well as the resolution granting house arrest to Enrile, but Enrile preferred to stay in Camp Crame.”
