A resort in San Juan town in Batangas has been ordered shut by the local government after it was discovered that it breached social distancing measures twice.

Mayor Ildebrando Salud issued a memo on Tuesday that revoked the business permit of Blue Coral Beach Resort after City Hall learned that some of its guests attended a beach party that violated health protocols. The party was caught on video, where guests were seen dancing close together without wearing masks or face shields.

The Department of Tourism has condemned the incident, which it called “reckless.” Calabarzon Regional Director for Tourism Michael Angara Palispis said that charges will be filed against the resort’s management.

Before Mayor Salud’s order, the resort was ordered closed from September 2 to 17 after its first violation of health protocols.

In November, the Tourism Department ordered an investigation into a house party organized in Boracay, where guests were seen enjoying themselves while flouting social distancing measures. One of the organizers had been sanctioned, as well as two foreign guests who wore uniforms of the Philippine National Police, an act that is prohibited in the country.
