QUEZON CITY — Coming from one of the members of the First Family, this is refreshing!
Sebastian “Baste” Duterte, youngest son of President Rodrigo Duterte, wants to fight discrimination among Filipinos, particularly those with tattoos and piercings.
Addressing a crowd during the recently concluded FightCon, held at the Amoranto Theater in Quezon City, on Sat, Jul 2, Baste said that people with body art and modifications shouldn’t be immediately labeled as drug addicts.

“Hindi ibig sabihin kapag may hikaw ka sa bibig at may tattoo ka sa katawan, addict ka na, rebellious na. No. It’s not always ganoon,” Baste said with conviction.
(“Having piercings on the lip or tattoos on the body doesn’t mean that you’re an addict…that you’re rebellious. No. It’s not always like that”)
Just like his father, Baste sneers at drugs (and for a good a good reason!), but his approach is more gentle.
His advice? “Yes to sports, yes to music, no to drugs. Very basic, just follow it. Alam niyo namang nakakasira ‘yung drugs, bakit niyo pa gagawin?”
(“Yes to sports, yes to music, no to drug. Very basic, just follow it. You know that drugs destroys lives, why still do it?”)
Sporting several tatoos and a lip ring himself, the sizzling hot Baste became the reluctant heartthrob during his father’s campaign.
Though he had already made it clear that he’s not interested in politics, it looks like he’s using his new role as presidential son to be a good influence to young Filipinos.
Good job, Baste!
