If there’s anyone who should believe that the pen is mightier than the sword, it would be a school principal. But that wasn’t the case here.
“Dominador Catapan — the principal of Ubit Elementary School in Isabela City in Basilan — attacked couple Arnulfo Sr. and Norma Enriquez over a long-standing spat last Mon, Aug 10,” reports Julie Alipala in Philippine Daily Inquirer.
Inspector Arnold Espares, the operations chief of Isabela City Police, said, “A personal grudge prompted Catapan to attack the couple using a sword.”
The report noted: “Catapan initially refused to yield to the police. However, he eventually surrendered after a negotiation conducted by responding policemen.”
Arnulfo died in the attack, while Norma was severely wounded. As such, Catapan faces charges of murder and frustrated murder.
