Bam Aquino slams age discrimination

At, 36, Senator Bam Aquino is currently the youngest incumbent senator, but he’s slamming “age discrimination” in the workplace.

“Aquino, who chairs the Senate Committee on Trade, Commerce and Entrepreneurship, said on Monday, April 28, that he would work for a legislation that would eradicate the practice of companies to hire based on age,” reports Hannah Torregoza in Manila Bulletin.

Aquino explained that he was prompted to make the move as he had reportedly “received a number of complaints from several job seekers about the practice of business firms to turn down applicants who are above their maximum age requirement of 45.”

“This practice is unacceptable because we want to encourage our citizens, including those in advanced years, to be productive,” Aquino said.

Would you hire a job applicant 45 years old and above? Why or why not?
