When it comes to nicknames, what you see is what you get.
A man with the unfortunate moniker Baliw (Crazy) has been arrested in Sta Ana, Manila, for robbing and killing a 53-year-old with whom he is said to have a long-running feud.
“A 53-year-old painter was killed when he resisted a holdupper who, just the same, succeeded in taking away his pay envelope in Sta Ana, Manila, the other night,” reports Itchie Cabayan in People’s Journal.
Police identified the suspect as Raymond Perdes — Baliw to his neighbors — who denied robbing the victim, Danilo Villonas.
Villonas was walking home along Oro-B Street in Sta Ana when Perdes allegedly held him at knifepoint. The victim, who had just received his week’s pay, tried to put up a fight but the robber stabbed him repeatedly until he fell to the ground.
Through a text message from a concerned citizen, police accosted Perdes, who denied robbing the victim.
He admitted, though, that they had a long-running feud.
