Out on bail, alleged ‘coffee date’ scammer tries selling ‘surrenderer t-shirt’ for PHP9,000

There’s no stopping this guy, huh?

On Saturday, a day after being released on bail, Xian Gaza (aka coffee date guy) tried selling the shirt he wore while surrendering to the police for PHP9,000 (US$172.96).

He surrendered to police on Thursday after he was served a pair of warrants for not paying two people he allegedly owes at least PHP3 million (US$57,653.92). He was arrested for violating the Anti-Bouncing Checks Law.

The two victims said they had helped fund Gaza’s coffee shop business but eventually stopped receiving the monthly payments he promised.

In a Facebook Live video on Saturday, he said that “someone bailed out for me,” but left the person anonymous.

Gaza posted bail on Friday and, of course, the aspiring social media influencer shared the certificate of discharge on Facebook.

“I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the Filipino public for all the hate, love and support that I received for the last few days—most especially to those God-sent angels who helped me get back to the free society. I’m now ready for a new life, lead me Lord. NATIONAL SCAMM3R “YOUNG FRAUDIGY” XIAN GAZA now signing off.’

Er, OK, but it looks like turning a new leaf will be harder for Gaza than he thinks.

In an interview with The Philippine Star, he asked supporters to help him raise PHP160,000 (US$3,074.88) for his bail, even though he only really needs PHP126,000 (US$2,421.46).

Which brings us to the orange T-shirt he wore the day he surrendered to the police. It’s obviously not worth the price he is asking for, even with the bonus “1 on 1” coffee date with him (Yes, seriously).

Not sure who will be interested in a date with an alleged scammer but in case it isn’t obvious yet: don’t fall for it.

Gaza has turned into some sort of meme since the stunt he pulled on actress Erich Gonzales last year when he used a billboard to ask her out on a coffee date. Creepy, we know.

This then led to people coming out and saying that they had been scammed by Gaza through allegedly fake fundraising projects and events.

People also started making fun of one of his travel vlogs in Cambodia because of the way he spoke and laughed.

It’s hard to explain, so just watch it below and watch out for his now-famous catchphrase “nyeaamm.” We don’t know what it means either.

While most don’t take social media ridicule well, Gaza seems to be enjoying the spotlight a little too much. He manages a Facebook page where he regularly shares wannabe viral content.

Safe to say, we can expect him to milk everything out of this latest 15 minutes of fame.
