Miracles can happen even in the most unexpected places. In this case, it happened at a literal dumpsite.
Yesterday morning, tricycle driver AngelitoEntis was parking his tricycle by a dumpsite in Mandaue City, Cebu when he noticed that a plastic bag by the entrance was moving. Edging closer, he was shocked to find a baby boy inside the bag.
According to SunStar Cebu, he immediately called the police, who then turned the baby over to the Mandaue City Social Welfare Services.
The baby was then brought to the Mandaue City District Hospital, where, perhaps most surprising of all, doctors confirmed that the child was healthy.
Dr. Glenda Dolorecon told ABS-CBN News that although the child will still need to undergo some tests, an initial examination revealed that the baby had a normal heartbeat.
In a Facebook post yesterday, Mandaue City Mayor Luigi Quisumbing confirmed that the baby was in good health and in stable condition.
He added that the baby has been named Joseph after St. Joseph the Worker, whose feast day was recently celebrated in the city.
The Department of Social Welfare and Development will get custody of the baby, but according to The Freeman, Entis, the tricycle driver has expressed his desire to adopt him.
