Socialite turned Pangasinan Rep. Rosemarie “Baby” Arenas has filed House Resolution 2381 with Rep. Roy Seneres, Rufus Rodriguez and Maximo Rodriguez directing the Department of Foreign Affairs to make representations to the embassy of Kuwait in the Philippines to settle all obligations due and damages caused to her.

Apparently, her house at 25 Pili Street in Forbes Park, Makati City, was leased out to the Embassy of Kuwait from Aug 2002 to 2011 and was used as the ambassador’s residence.

“Unfortunately, upon return of the property to the lessor, it was in a very deplorable condition and appliances and furniture were missing…as a result the lessor had to spend PHP3,423,318.00 for repairs and another PHP2,181,225.00 for the purchase of new appliances and furniture,” the resolution said.

It added that the damage includes the garden and landscape being destroyed because of large tents that were set up; unauthorized permanent alterations and additions to the electrical layout and system; missing appliances such as air conditioners; and rare fabrics used for the drapes were either missing or damaged beyond repair.

Arenas, who inherited real estate properties form her husband Ramon Arenas, a descendant of the wealthy Lopez family of Iloilo, is trying to collect over PHP5 million fir the damages.

“The embassy claims to have no knowledge of any missing items and has continued to ignore the demands of the lessor for the return or replacement of said items,” the resolution said. Arenas also leases property to the embassies of Brazil, Libya, Argentina, Bangladesh, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Nigeria, and the United States. With reports from ABS-CBN News.
