Ayala Alabang raid nets online casino ring

Five Koreans have been charged in Muntinlupa after they were arrested for allegedly operating an online casino from Ayala Alabang Village in that city.

The suspects, identified as Naryun Kim, Yunhee Hwang, Seyoung Chung, Wonseok Yang, and Hoi Cherl Yang, were arrested in a National Bureau of Investigation raid on Monday. They have been charged with violating Republic Act 9287, a law penalizing illegal numbers game, and RA 8484, or the Access Devices Regulation Act of 1998.

The raid was prompted by a complaint by the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) over “the continuous operations of international telephone fraud here in the Philippines.”

NBI agents looking into the complaint found Taiwanese and Korean nationals were involved and that they were operating in Ayala Alabang. The NBI identified the alleged syndicate leader as Bao Shiao-Yu.

Last year, authorities raided a methamphetamine lab in the exclusive gated community.
