Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte will be seated next to United States President Barack Obama and United Nations Secretary Ban Ki Moon at the Asean Summit gala dinner tonight, reports Patricia Lourdes Viray on Philstar.com.
This is the first time Duterte and Obama will meet face to face, just days after a highly publicized conflict which started when Duterte was misquoted as calling America’s president “son of a whore” (read the explanation here), which led to Obama cancelling a bilateral meeting between the two countries.
The UN Secretary will be seated on the other side of Duterte during the dinner.
“Duterte earlier threatened to withdraw membership from the UN after two special rapporteurs urged the president and Filipino authorities to stop the killings of drug suspects in the country,” added the report.
