The Avengers: Endgame fever has reached dizzying heights in the Philippines, as proven by this viral post that shows passionate fans scrambling up an escalator because they wanted to be the first in line to buy tickets at the cinemas.

Raymart Enrico posted the videos and photos that captured the excited moviegoers in action on his Facebook account yesterday. The spectacle happened at Robinsons Place Butuan in Agusan del Norte province, where Enrico works as a visual artist.

Enrico told Coconuts Manila through a Facebook message that he took the videos and photos at 10am, the mall’s opening time. He said he went out of the department store to watch the fans’ excitement. When he looked down, he saw one of the mall’s security guards standing beside the escalator while fans waited patiently for his signal to go up.

After a few minutes, the guard whistled to signal fans that they could go. And they did, running to make sure they arrive at the box office ahead of everyone else.

The video has been shared more than 8,500 times, while Enrico’s entire post, which also has photos of fans crowding around the cinemas, has been shared more than 13,000 times.

Fortunately, no one was harmed amid the rush. “They were all excited. No fights occurred. All of them had happy faces,” Enrico said in Filipino.

Here are some photos of fans lining up to buy tickets.

Some cinemas in the Philippines allow moviegoers to book tickets in advance online but many Filipinos do not have credit or debit cards, which are necessary for these transactions. That’s why some people — like these moviegoers — prefer to get up early to line up instead.
