Australian gov’t donates PHP1.5 million for repair of Mindanao classrooms

“The Australian government earmarked PHP1.5 million for the repair this month of 75 classrooms in Mindanao in support of the Brigada Eskwela program of the Department of Education (DepEd),” reports John Unson on Philstar.com.

The report noted: “The assistance from the Australian Agency for International Development for the 75 schools in the Autonomous Region is channelled through the on-going joint Basic Assistance for Education in Mindanao (BEAM) program of Philippines and Australia.”

Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) Gov. Mujiv Hataman, along with regional education secretary Atty. Jamar Kulayan, launched on Monday, May 18, the Brigada Eskwela in the region.

Hataman said, “We are thankful to the Australian government for its continuing support to efforts aimed at addressing the illiteracy problem besetting far-flung areas in the autonomous region.
