Somebody’s “lawyered up,” as they say in cop shows.
“High-profile lawyer Atty. Raymond Fortun has agreed to represent businessman Cedric Lee, who is facing illegal detention, serious physical injuries, grave threats, grave coercion, illegal arrest, and blackmail charges filed by Vhong Navarro,” reports ABS-CBNnews.com.
Fortun made the announcement of accepting Lee’s case on his Facebook account, said he views Lee as an underdog. He wrote, “I love the underdog. I enjoy the good fight, and I relish handling the toughest cases. Lawyering for me has never been about the money. It’s about the pursuit for truth and justice, it’s about fairness and equality.”
Fortun added that he believes Navarro lied when he said Lee wanted to extort money from him following the mauling incident at the Forbeswood Heights condo unit where model Deniece Cornejo stayed. Cornejo is accusing Navarro of rape and claims that Lee, along with his companions, had rescued her.
You might remember that last December, Fortun’s wife was shot in the face, and that he thought the incident had something to do with his job as a lawyer.
