When it comes to “nuisance candidates,” this guy may take the prverbial crazy cake.
On Mon, Oct 12, the controversial Atty. Ely Pamatong declared (for the nth time) his presidential bid after burning the Chinese flag in front of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) office in Intramuros, Manila.
“Pamatong arrived at the Palacio de Gobernador even before the Comelec office opened for the filing of certificates of candidacy at 8am. He then burned China’s flag as a symbol of his promise to defend the disputed Philippine territories being claimed by China,” reports ABS-CBNnews.com.
The report recalled: “Pamatong was arrested in 2014 due to the ‘spike attack’ of his supporters on EDSA in 2004 following his derailed presidential bid.” In 2010, Pamatong handcuffed himself to the gates of the Comelec headquarters for being rejected as a presidentiable.
Moreover, “Pamatong has also been accused of allegedly masterminding a foiled bombing at the International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 in 2014.” He denied the allegation.
If we have it right, there was a time when Pamatong wanted Filipinos to be declared as U.S. citizens.
