Ateneo tightens security due to kidnapping incident

Don’t be surprised if security guards at the Ateneo de Manila University campus in Quezon City are stricter these days.

“In a statement dated November 29, ADMU VP for Administration Fr. Nemesio Que, SJ said a student of the Loyola Schools was abducted inside the north car park of the campus between 6 and 630 pm last November 21,” reports ABS-CBNnews.com.

The university didn’t divulge any more information about the student, but revealed that the latter is now in safe condition after being released. Que said, “We wish to assure the University community that the student was released, unharmed, and that no ransom was paid. By God’s grace, our student has returned to the campus and now attends classes.”

According to the report, the university has decided to install additional lighting and deploy more roving guards in the parking areas. Likewise, tougher rules will also be enforced in the entry and exit areas. Some alternate entry points will also be closed.

Those who spot any suspicious characters on campus may get in touch with the university’s Security Office at +63 2 4266001 loc 4111 or mobile +63999 9925715.
