Ateneo de Manila chooses Vico Sotto as the commencement speaker for LS Class of 2021

In a move that has been met with widespread approval for what we’ll call a wide variety of reasons, the Ateneo de Manila University announced that Pasig City mayor Vico Sotto will be the commencement speaker for Loyola Schools’ graduating Class of 2021.

The young and popular mayor is an Ateneo alumni, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in political science in 2011, and with a master’s degree in public management in 2018.

The announcement was accompanied by a quote from Dr. Maria Luz C. Vilches, Vice President for the Loyola Schools: “We hope that our students will be inspired by Mayor Sotto’s example of honor, integrity, and tireless service to the nation.”

The graduation ceremonies will be held on 24 October 2021, with the theme “Gawing Buo ang Bansa: Muling Likhain ang Dangal, Integridad at Katapatan.” (“Make the Country Whole: Recreate Dignity, Integrity, and Honesty.”)
