The Ateneo de Manila Junior High School issued a statement earlier today after a video of an altercation between two male students made rounds on social media.
Jose Antonio P. Salvador, the Ateneo Junior High School Principal, said in the statement that the school has started an investigation on the matter.
The video, which appeared on social media yesterday, shows a male student provoking a fellow schoolmate to fight him while inside a restroom.
The student can be seen taunting his schoolmate, asking the latter to choose between getting beat up or kissing his shoes or testicles.
The student then proceeds to beat up his schoolmate.
In his statement, Salvador said that the video “depicts an evident act of violence that constitutes a serious violation of disciplinary misconduct.”
However, Salvador also expressed concern about the risks of sharing the video online.
“Not only has the privacy rights of these minors been breached but it has also provoked some reactions that do little to help the school in dealing appropriately with the incident,” he said.
Salvador asked the public to not spread the video any further.
