The Oktaves may be a new band, but its members sure are no newbies in the biz. Composing the band are musicians from three generations of OPM: guitarist Nitoy Adriano best known for being part of The Jerks, rock icon Ely Buendia on vocals and guitar, plus the Hilera trio of Chris Padilla on vocals/guitas, Ivan Garcia (bass), and Bobby Padilla (drums).
The superband recently launched their self-titled album at the Glorietta New Activity Center, where they sang all 12 songs included in the album, including hit track “K.U.P.A.L.” and the new single “Paakyat Ka Pa Lang, Pababa Na Ako.”
As a treat for fans, the album was bundled with a limited edition tee and a poster; those who bought the bundle had a meet-and-greet with the guys.
So if you’re a fan of Ely and his Eraserheads/Pupil music, then you’d want to check his new music together with his new band. They play modern rock but country, blues, and rockabilly are also represented in their songs, thanks to the diverse musical tastes of all the band members.
The Oktaves is now out in CDs under MCA Music at Astroplus, Odyssey and SM Record Bar. It is also available digitally via iTunes and MyMusicStore.com.ph.
