Calling all songwriters out there! If you want cool cash for your songs plus a popular singer to interpret your composition, then you still have seven days to send in your entry to the Philippine Popular Music Festival. After a very successful first run last year, it’s back to make sure that the OPM is still alive and kicking.
Last year, Karl Villuga’s “Bawat Hakbang,” which was interpreted by Mark Bautista and the Akafellas, won grand prize, making him take home 1 million pesos. Second placer Toto Sorioso took home P500,000 for his song “Tayo-tayo Lang,” interpreted by Ebe Dancel. Third placer Soc Villanueva won P250,000 for his song “Kontrabida,” interpreted by Sam Concepcion.
Check out philpop.com.ph for more details but better make it fast because deadline is March 31. Both amateurs and professionals can join as long as you are of Filipino descent (so, yes, you can still join even if you’re abroad).
Apart from the philpop.com.ph site, you can also follow @philpopmusic on Twitter or facebook.com/philippinepopularmusicfestival for more info.
Good luck and let’s keep OPM alive!
