Amid the furor over Gitna ng Unos, the campaign comic book of Liberal Party (LP) standard bearer Mar Roxas, veteran comic book illustrator Karl Comendador revealed that he was just commissioned by Roxas’ supporters to do the work.

As more and more people expressed their disagreement over the portrayal of Roxas in the comic book, Comendador posted this message on his Facebook page on Tue, Mar 29: “Hindi komo sinabi kong si Duterte ang presidente ko e binibigyan ko na kayo ng karapatang BABUYIN ANG DRAWING KO! Hindi tayo magkakasundo diyan (It’s not as if my revelation that I am a supporter of Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte gives you the right to disrespect my drawings! We won’t agree over that)!”
An Inquirer.net report also noted: “As early as February, Comendador has posted a photo of the then-unfinished cover of the comic book with the disclaimer: ‘Trabaho lang po! Walang personalan (It’s just work! Nothing personal)!'”
Comendador also shared page of a comic book that he did for Duterte. (See below.) Comendador said that he did the Duterte comic years ago and he’s not sure if it was distributed.
