Arrested: Quiapo road rage suspect Vhon Martin Tanto caught in Masbate

His stint as a fugitive was relatively short.

Vhon Martin Tanto — the Army reservist who was identified by the Manila Police District (MPD) as the man who shot dead bicycle rider Mark Vincent Garalde — has finally been arrested. The road rage encounter happened in Quiapo, Manila, last Mon night, Jul 25

Citing Army chief Lt. Gen. Eduardo Año, a report by GMA News’ Jun Veneracion on Balitanghali revealed that Tanto was arrested at around 11:40am on Fri, Jul 29 in Problacion East Milagros, Masbate. The arrest was done through the combined efforts of the army’s intelligence and security group, the 9th infantry division, and the local police force.

It was earlier reported that the reward money for Tanto’s capture had been raised to PHP200,000.  Manila Mayor Joseph “Erap” Estrada initially offered PHP100,000 as reward money. Then, Caloocan City Mayor Oscar Malapitan also offered an additional PHP100,000.
