And the plot thickens.

Comedian-turned-government-official Arnell Ignacio challenged veteran musician Jim Paredes to a live debate after a confrontation ensued between Paredes and young Duterte supporters at the 31st EDSA Day celebration at the People Power Monument on Feb 25.

“Jim, my friend, you must admit, that was nasty… shouting at those kids who were just standing there and holding on to a tarpaulin stating their beliefs,” Ignacio said in a video posted on his Facebook page.

Paredes taunted young Duterte supporters for allegedly trying to disrupt the EDSA 31 commemoration of the critics of President Duterte. He pointed out that Duterte Youth should have gone to Luneta, where Duterte supporters were holding their own rally.

The member of the singing group Apo Hiking Society is a vocal critic of President Rodrigo Duterte.

“It is so satisfying to shut them up when it mattered. Face to face. In person,” Paredes later posted on Twitter.

Ignacio criticized Paredes for shouting at the members of the Duterte Youth.

“When you were shouting at them, they didn’t answer back in a fashion similar to yours. Probably they just didn’t know how,” Ignacio said.

Ignacio also reminded Paredes about the latter’s invitation for the EDSA celebration. It was “for everyone,” Paredes posted, “not just yellow.”

“EDSA has no exclusivity. Remember, you invited everybody to come. They did.”

“Why don’t you take somebody who will answer you back? Si Bruce Rivera o kaya ako. Let’s do this… live.” Arnell said.

We have yet to see if Paredes will say yes to the invitation.
