Are X-rated billboards the cause of road accidents?

This bill doesn’t just want to save lives, it aims to save souls, too. (Insert evil laugh here.)

“Samar 1st District Rep. Harlin C. Abayon has filed a bill seeking to ban obscene billboards along major roads in the countrys,” ABS-CBN News correspondent RG Cruz on ABS-CBNnews.com.

The bill, which is known as “An Act Prohibiting the Public Exhibition or Display of Obscene and/or Distractive Motion or Still Pictures Along Major Thoroughfares,” seeks to protect drivers from getting distracted by sexed up images.

As Abayon explained, “Kung masyado malaswa, nakakapantawag ng pansin. Kung nagmamaneho ng sasakyan, maaaring makadulot ng sakuna sa daan. Sa kabataan, nae-expose sa ganitong tanawin, maaring ma-corrupt ang pag iisip (If it’s too sleazy, it calls attention. It may lead to accidents. Minors who see them may also have their minds corrupted).”

Gee, congressman, are you a frustrated priest? (We get the safety issues raised by the bill, so there’s no need to get preachy.)
