Are they really fixing the MRT or are they just saying that?

It’s a valid question — especially since the Metro Rail Transit (MRT) continues to be hell.

“During rush hour on Tue morning, February 16, hundreds of MRT commuters were inconvenienced anew after a broken rail was detected between Ayala and Magallanes stations,” reports Robertzon Ramirez in The Philippine Star.

The report noted: “MRT general manager Roman Buenafe did not respond to The Star, but said in an interview with radio station dzBB that the operation was disrupted by a rail break at past 9am. He also said they are ‘planning to rehabilitate’ the system so that it will not happen again in the future.”

However, as the report indicated, “two insiders said PHP61.5 million worth of rails ordered by the Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) last year have yet to be installed.” This is because they have yet to bid out the work contract.
