An appeal to stop a proposed reclamation project on Manila Bay will be elevated to the Supreme Court by Senator Cynthia Villar, after it was dismissed by the Court of Appeals on Aug 14. The proposal by AllTech Contractors plans to reclaim around 500 hectares of land along the coast of Manila Bay in the cities of Las Piñas and Parañaque, but Villar says not only will it aggravate existing flooding problems, it will also destroy a wetlands area that serves as a sanctuary to the endemic Philippine Ducks as well as migratory birds from as far as Siberia.
