Apolinario Mabini stamp design contest launched

It’s time for another national hero to shine.

“On Monday, Jan 6, the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) launched a stamp design contest for the sesquicentennial birth anniversary of Philippine revolutionary hero Apolinario Mabini, who was born in July 23, 1864,” reports Ron B. Lopez in the Manila Bulletin

The contest is open to all high school and college students, amateurs and professionals. The winning entries will be used in Special Limited Stamps to be issued by the Philippine Postal Corp. to celebrate Mabini’s 150th birth anniversary.

NHCP said the entries must be submitted together with an accomplished registration form downloadable from their website. In its online advisory, NHCP said “the artwork must be printed on photo paper, size 8R (8 in x 10 in), in vertical format only and securely mounted on the black side of an illustration board size 10 in x 15 in. Digital versions of the designs (resolution of 300 DPI, jpeg/png file format) shall also be emailed for posting in the NHCP’s Facebook page”.

The Commission also reminded participants that “artworks should be made through computer or digital art, adding that it should be accompanied by a 100-word interpretation of the theme and design.”

The deadline for submission is on April 4, 2014, 5pm. (For more information and other details, click this link.)
