We’re not surprised, really.
“Speaker Feliciano Belmonte Jr., who is supporting the anti-political dynasty measure, says it will be treated as an ‘ordinary bill,'” reports Charissa Luci in the Manila Bulletin.
The report noted that the measure bans relatives of incumbents up to the second degree of consanguinity from running in the same polls.
Belmonte said that even if “the measure is not part of the House’s priority legislative list, he recognized that it may have the same fate as the Reproductive Health bill and the Marcos Victims’ Compensation bill which were put on the back burner, but were eventually passed and signed into law.”
That said, political families can enjoing being in office at the same time for years to come.
