Anti-drugs group wants mandatory testing for foreign artists

If you fail the first time, try again until you succeed, right?

An anti-narcotics group in the Philippines that unsuccessfully tried to require boyband One Direction from undergoing a drug test before performing in Metro Manila last year is casting a wider net.

It is lobbying for mandatory drug testing for all foreign artists performing here.

“It is not a secret that it is usual for performers (mostly foreign artists) and spectators to be using illegal drugs in rock concerts; we want to avoid this,” the group Laban ng Pamilyang Pilipino reportedly stressed in a letter sent to the Bureau of Immigration and obtained by The Philippine Star.

“Should the results be negative, they should be required to post a cash bond as a guarantee that their people, especially foreign artists, staffs and crew will not use illegal drugs not only during the concert but also within the duration of their stay in the Philippines,” the group suggested in the letter.
