They came in Guy Fawkes masks.
“Several masked protesters claiming to be members of the hacktivist group Anonymous Philippines attempted to hold a rally near Batasang Pambansa in Quezon City to call for the abolition of the pork barrel system,” reports ABS-CBNNews.com.
It may be recalled that Anonymous Philippines had hacked several government websites, posting an announcement that they would be holding the “Million Mask March” today, Nov 5.
According to the report, the protesters at Batasang Pambansa “were initially barred by members of the Quezon City Police District Station 6 from going near the south gate of the complex.” However, they were later allowed to pass. Later, reports said there were already 100 of them at the site.
Later, some of them were “invited for questioning as the police recognized that the group was behind the recent defacement of several government websites.” The protesters on the scene denied being directly reponsible for the hacking but admitted that they were indeed members of the group.
In this case, all we can say is, “It cuts both ways.”
