Police authorities arrested a 27-year-old drug pusher in a buy-bust operation near Christ the King church in Barangay Palestina, Camarines Sur, Saturday evening April 29.
The suspect Arjay Avila allegedly tried to throw away two packets of shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) after he realized that he was making a transaction with undercover cops.
The police authorities headed by Police Chief Inspector Chito Oyardo arrested the suspect and seized a total of three packets of shabu from him.
According to sABS-CBN News, Avila stayed with the family of Father Danilo Vargas for 10 years, which earned him the nickname “Sakristan” (trans. altar boy). The priest, however, emphasized that the suspect isn’t actually an altar boy.
“He isn’t an altar boy here. He was never our altar boy. He stayed with my mother in Penafrancia, where he earned a degree from Mariners Polytechnic Colleges,” said Fr. Vargas, who was shocked with Avila’s involvement in illegal drugs.
Avila’s brother Jeffrey, who lives in the Christ the King church believes that his brother was framed.
The suspect is facing charges for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
